RSC Governance and Meeting 14 April 2018

The RDA Steering Committee (RSC) has moved forward in its implementation of the governance model announced by the RDA Board in 2015.

RSC meeting in 2018: Looking for a host institution 23 January 2018

The RDA Steering Committee (RSC) welcomes invitations from institutions that may be interested in hosting its next in-person meeting. The RSC proposes to meet for 3-4 days during the period of October 15-November 2, 2018. The RSC comprises 13 people, but part of the RSC meeting will likely be open to observers; this provides interested parties the opportunity to see how RDA is built and how international consensus is reached. One of the days could be an outreach or training event for the local or regional community.

Save the date: RDA all-day conference on August 23, 2018, hosted by the National Library of Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur 10 January 2018

This event is organized by the RDA Board. It will be held at the National Library of Malaysia, 232 Jalan Tun Razak, Kuala Lumpur.

Join us for a full-day event focused on RDA, and looking particularly at the ways in which RDA is evolving to accommodate the needs of cataloguing communities around the world.

Join us for a full-day event focused on introducing the new RDA Toolkit!

There will be RDA experts presenting on topics such as the restructure and redesign of the RDA Toolkit, as well as discussions on new approaches to key cataloguing issues. This is a good opportunity to hear about the latest developments and test out the new RDA Toolkit with experts. Further details on the agenda and speakers to come soon.

Shape the New RDA Toolkit at Midwinter 20 December 2017

The RDA Toolkit Redesign Update and Preview is an interactive pre-conference event focused on the direction and progress of the 3R (RDA Toolkit Restructure and Redesign) Project. The day-long event will allow attendees to hear from and engage with RDA experts and insiders. Attendees will explore and critique changes to the Toolkit and address new concepts from the IFLA Library Reference Model (LRM) and how these and other key concepts will be implemented in RDA.

Appointments to the RDA Steering Committee 6 December 2017

The RDA Steering Committee is pleased to announce two new appointments.

Kathy Glennan is the new Chair-Elect.

Ebe Kartus is the new Wider Community Engagement Officer.

Both Kathy and Ebe are current members of the RSC, as representatives of the American Library Association (ALA) and the Australian Committee on Cataloguing (ACOC) respectively. Each brings a wealth of expertise in the current strategy and development of RDA to their new roles.

RDA Preconference at ALA Midwinter 22 November 2017

Registration is open for the preconference "RDA Toolkit Redesign Update and Preview," which will be held at the ALA Midwinter meeting in Denver on Friday, February 9, 2018 from 8:30 am - 4:00 pm in the Colorado Convention Center, Room 201.

RSC Recruitments Underway 5 October 2017

The RDA Steering Committee is looking for a Wider Community Engagement Officer for a two-year, part-time appointment beginning in early 2018.

We hope to find an energized and experienced individual who is knowledgable about RDA and its current development, and has a track record of presenting RDA information to groups. Fluency in more than one language is desirable.

The two key responsibilities of the position are to coordinate the user responses to the redesigned RDA Toolkit and to disseminate information about the new Toolkit.

RSC Outreach Event in Madrid: "Preparing for the new RDA Toolkit" 26 September 2017

The RSC outreach meeting "Preparing for the new RDA Toolkit", to be held 09.00 to 13.00 on Monday 23 October 2017 at the Biblioteca Nacional de España in Madrid, will include a progress report on the 3R Project, and three topics for open public discussion:

  1. Serials, aggregates, and changes over time
  2. Types of description
  3. Developing attributes as relationships
