The RDA Steering Committee (RSC) cordially invites interested catalogers and metadata application developers to a special, one-day event of focused discussion of some of the current challenges for RDA. "Reconstructing RDA in the LRM: aggregations, authorities, and appellations" will be held in Chicago, Illinois on Tuesday, May 16, 2017, preceding the RSC meeting. The specific location, and other event details, will be announced shortly. |

Implementation of the LRM in RDA | 3 February 2017 |
The RDA Steering Committee (RSC) agreed at its November 2016 meeting to adopt the draft IFLA Library Reference Model (LRM) as a conceptual model for the development of RDA: Resource Description and Access, replacing the Functional Requirements family of models (FRBR, FRAD, and FRSAD) that are superseded by the LRM. |
RDA Board Appointments | 27 January 2017 |
The RDA Board is pleased to announce the results of the recent appointments process which was undertaken at the end of 2016. This marks the formal adoption of the new governance structure by the Board and in particular a change from specific constituents being represented on Board to National Institution Representatives for each region. RSC Meetings and Outreach in 2017 | 19 January 2017 |
The RDA Steering Committee (RSC) will meet twice in 2017. The first meeting will take place on May 17-19 2017 in Chicago, USA, at ALA Headquarters. The second meeting will take place in Madrid, Spain, at Biblioteca Nacional de España. Dates for the three-day meeting in October or early November 2017 will be announced in due course. The main item on the agenda at both meetings will be the development of the content of RDA Toolkit during the RDA Toolkit Restructure and Redesign (3R) Project, leading to the release of the new design in April 2018. |
RSC Translations Team Liaison Officer Appointed and RDA Reference Translation News | 16 December 2016 |
Daniel Paradis has been appointed as the Translations Team Liaison Officer on the RDA Steering Committee (RSC), effective December 1, 2016. This appointment is another step in the expansion of governance planned for the RSC, and is the first of the new specialist officer roles to be activated. In this role, Daniel will also take on leadership of the RDA Translations Working Group from James Hennelly, with immediate effect. The Translations Team Liaison Officer represents the interests of RDA translators and the Translations Working Group on RSC. |
